Realities of Life Unfolded by the Pandemic

Life is a lesson we learn and continue to learn everyday”

“We are at the beginning of an end…waiting for a new beginning!”

Quarantine, and Social Distance are the two terms, which we have only heard of. It was only an imagination, but I got a chance to experience it, when I realized the gravity of the crisis, uncertainty and fear. This gave me a chance to understand the importance of life, relationship, freedom and so on…

People around the world are suffering equally, being at home, unable to visit their dear ones, not able to go to work and attend school, fear of illness, stigma, separation and loss of their loved ones, and unable to care in their hours of need. At times, we feel a real need to reach them, instinctively desire to be close to our family, feel like holding their hands and embrace them- but we are forbidden from all such desires.

All of us – from the prominent personalities to commoners, realized that we have equal responsibility for our health and well-being. In this state of uncertainty our existence shows the importance of roles and responsibilities of leaders. We have been witnessing how all countries and their respective leaders are relentlessly working for the health of their citizens. Huge capital resources are spent to protect and preserve lives. Companies realized life is more important than money and business, educational institutions recognized education is secondary to health and life.

We also realized the value of many people in our society and witnessed how selflessly they work for the society, leaving their family – let us respect and honor our doctors, nurses, hospital attenders, the police, hygiene workers and many others who directly or indirectly try to preserve and protect our lives.

Did we ever think of a change in our life that we are experiencing now?  No, not at all.

Of course, our forefathers struggled a lot to survive here with all such difficulties. We heard of such stories, but human beings in this era have solutions for all their problems. We always expected a better tomorrow and we thought it will be possible in this advanced world. Many of us believed that we are the supreme power on this earth, even thought of stepping on other planets. Every country thought that the only enemy for them was their neighboring countries, but now every country is fighting against a common enemy which conquered the whole world. The nuclear weapons and equipment accumulated is useless and inactive in front of this invisible enemy.

We presumed our inventions and research are capable enough to control the world, whereas till date researchers around the world are struggling to come up with a vaccine and bring the world back to normalcy.

Are we really wasting our lives by engaging in endless battles for wealth, status and power which cannot prolong or protect our lives?  Nor can it give real satisfaction. Are we really recognizing the value of people around us?

As we move forward, let’s love and respect each other, be sensitive to every life, preserve the sacredness of life and value it. Inspire every life you come across!

Let’s take a moment to thank god and move forward with a unified prayer.

“Ultimately, the greatest lesson that COVID-19 can teach humanity is that we are all in this together.”
